Hello my name is Scott,

There has been a little confusion about 2 companies in Austin very similar in name.  In 1976, the company "Cowart Door Systems" was started by a gentleman named Herman Cowart.  Herman is my Uncle.  For years he had the leading company around Austin.  He is a smart man who knows this business.  When it comes to a garage door he knows all of the products, the proper way to install them, and what general maintenance is needed to ensure good-working order for many years of trouble-free operation.   Herman is retired and the company is no longer owned by the family.  As a young man I worked by his side and soon the garage door business became my living!

I myself am a native Texan.  I had lived here for most of my younger years until the economy went south in 1985.  I then moved to Dallas, started a door business, got married to a wonderful woman and concocted 2 great kids.  The door business went great, and with the help of the wife, the company grew to annual-gross-sales around $1 Million (not profit mind you) running 50-75 service-calls a day, plus 5-10 doors installed each day.  It was a chore not to mention............  with 13 service techs., and 3 women in the office, I still went out and worked.  I enjoyed the work, however, the Dallas area had taking it's toll on me.  In 1999 I sold the business and moved back home to a better, slower-paced, Austin-environment to raise the kiddos.
